Our Solution

Since 2007, a group of committed volunteers, including dancers and choreographers of the Chaddah Dance Company have performed its signature multimedia live program entitled Encounters of Hope for audiences in communities across the United States. The mission of Chaddah is to educate, activate and connect people within a local community so they can unite and fight for victims of trafficking in the cities where they live. For each performance, Chaddah invites local organizations to set up in the lobby. These organizations provide assistance and services needed to support efforts including prevention and protection education, identifying and rescuing victims, safe houses and services to help with rehabilitation and recovery for victims. Encounters of Hope draws thousands of interested and curious attendees to each event and the true stories of victims told with powerful imagery and dance engages minds, breaks hearts and activates individuals to join others in their community to unite in the fight. Following each event, HOPE is on display as hundreds of broken hearted people come together in the lobby to find ways to do their part and give a voice to the voiceless. Those individuals working with their local organizations and ministries form the compassionate ambassadors and armies of hope to stop trafficking in their cities. History of Chaddah

The founder and Executive Director of the Chaddah Dance Company is Amy Jo Pernie. Her vision to shine a light on the topic of human trafficking followed a mission trip to India in 2006. Since then, she has made more than 45 trips to India and became personally involved in the rescue and rehabilitation of the vulnerable, impoverished and forgotten, including many of the victims and children of victims of human trafficking. As a firsthand witness, Amy was convicted to share their painful and heart wrenching stories. She created the unique and impactful production entitled “Encounters of Hope,” which follows the lives of six real victims of trafficking and tells their stories with the beautiful art of dance and a powerful multimedia presentation. Each dance relates the actual life stories from the initial act of being trafficked to their daily struggles. The performing arts have always had a special way to draw people in and engage them and Encounters of Hope brings audiences together to unite and take action. Human trafficking is on the rise and present in all 50 states in the U.S. with millions of victims, a majority of them women and often times children. The Chaddah mission with the Encounters of Hope production is to bring awareness to the issue, help people in your area gain an understanding, and learn where to connect and get involved with local organizations and ministries. About Chaddah

Chaddah, Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit organization with the express purpose of creating awareness and fighting human trafficking. Over the years, Chaddah has been very blessed to have the opportunity to come alongside other like-minded individuals and groups to organize and activate within local communities across the United States. Because our semi-professional dance team is composed primarily of young women that are students in high school and college, our touring season is currently limited to the month of February. Each year, Chaddah is invited to come perform in venues across the country. We decide which cities to serve based on the urgency of the need within the community as well as our ability to secure venues, travel and lodging to accommodate the largest audiences and make the most impact to fight trafficking within that community. Over the years, the dancers and their families have not only volunteered their time, but also provided all of their own funding for production, travel, lodging, venues and assorted expenses. In 2019, Chaddah became a tax-exempt non-profit organization so that all of our friends, families and Chaddah Ambassadors across the world can join us in the fight. While Chaddah, Inc. itself is not a religious organization, the dancers and volunteers are committed followers of Jesus Christ and consider it their mission to reflect the hope of Jesus by showing love in their service to others. We believe that ALL people are worthy of love and inherently and immeasurably valuable. Through the production and performance of Encounters of Hope, we give a voice to the voiceless (Proverbs 31:8-9), deliver the weak and needy from the hand of the wicked (Psalm 82:4), proclaim liberty to the captive (Isaiah 61:1), look out for orphans and widows in their distress (James 1:27) and always help the least among us (Matthew 25:40).
