Join Chaddah and Unite to Fight Against Human Trafficking
Human Trafficking is a multi-billion dollar criminal activity in which people around the globe are targeted, groomed, lured, deceived, harbored, transported, bought, or kidnapped to serve an exploitative purpose, such as sexual slavery, forced labor, or child soldiery. The victims are usually the most vulnerable among us, often children, the poor or the marginalized groups in their society. Whether you see it or not, whether you believe it or not, trafficking affects every community. The evil of enslaving others has been present throughout human history, but never have so many hearts been mobilized to end it. Chaddah connects the individuals who are willing to do something about trafficking with the local organizations in their own communities that are actively fighting to prevent it. Together, we can stop trafficking and save lives. Click here to see how you can help.
The Problem
Human trafficking is modern era slavery and it is a massive global problem. The enslavement and trafficking of people is estimated to generate $150 billion annually and victimizes more than 40 million worldwide. More than 70% of victims are women and sadly, 10,000,000 are trapped children. Stopping human trafficking is a big challenge, not only due to its size, but also because it often exists in the shadows of our societies and culture. Additionally, because of its disturbing and horrific nature, it is a very difficult and heavy topic for people to discuss and address and presents a special challenge to organize and get involved. Often, those who learn the facts of human trafficking are shocked and feel helpless or hopeless about how they individually can help. However, every single victim matters and the actions of individuals working together has proven to save lives. Learn more about how you can get involved here.
Our Solution
Since 2007, a group of committed volunteers, including dancers and choreographers of the Chaddah Dance Company have performed its signature multimedia live program entitled Encounters of Hope for audiences in communities across the United States. The mission of Chaddah is to educate, activate and connect people within a local community so they can unite and fight for victims of trafficking in the cities where they live. For each performance, Chaddah invites local organizations to set up in the lobby. These organizations provide assistance and services needed to support efforts including prevention and protection education, identifying and rescuing victims, safe houses and services to help with rehabilitation and recovery for victims. Encounters of Hope draws thousands of interested and curious attendees to each event and the true stories of victims told with powerful imagery and dance engages minds, breaks hearts and activates individuals to join others in their community to unite in the fight. Following each event, HOPE is on display as hundreds of broken hearted people come together in the lobby to find ways to do their part and give a voice to the voiceless. Those individuals working with their local organizations and ministries form the compassionate ambassadors and armies of hope to stop trafficking in their cities.
